DYPTIQUE

Paris-Tokyo

For the opening of the first Diptyque shop in Japan in the Aoyama district, José Levy signs two unpubli- shed candle holders that seal this new bridge between Paris and Tokyo. In residence at the Villa Kujoya- ma, the French Institute of Kyoto in 2011, José Levy went to meet Japanese craftsmen to capture their relationship with the light and make an installation for the first Nuit Blanche of the city: a parterre of fifty Diptyque candles. Back in Paris, to celebrate the opening of Diptyque Tokyo, he imagines two lanterns sheltering two candles titled Tokyo and Paris.
